Eric Greitens and the "Political Witch Hunt"

(I'm just going to state now: this post is full of snide liberal comments coming from someone who has been anxiously awaiting Gov. Greitens leaving office. Most are subtle and I still report the facts, but if it bugs you, I still encourage you to check out one of the links below)

The governor's resignation is effective today, Friday, June 1st, 2018. Some are jumping for joy while others stand by Eric Greitens and believe, as he is alleging, that he was never in the wrong. This is all ironic of course, after he released this ad on May 22, which in my personal and very biased opinion, absolutely crazy and on the line of propaganda.

I've pulled 3 basic points from 4 different articles today. Those articles being from CNN, The New York Times, and FOX. The links to said articles are as follows:

The three basic points are:

  1. Greitens announced his resignation, effective June 1st. All previous charges were dropped.

  2. Greitens was indicted for felony tampering of computer data

  3. He was also indicted for felony invasion of privacy

Overall, all three outlets meshed together pretty well with minimal differences in reporting on the main facts. The one thing that immediately stood out was just how the subject in the CNN article I was using was more about the charges being dropped because of the resignation rather than the resignation itself. All outlets also reported a ton of excess information that made their statements of the three points awfully beefy. I used elisions to cut to the chase for my tables, but if you are wanting to see the full context of everything stated, feel free to access the links above,

The first point is pretty common knowledge and could be easily found on twitter or facebook, but it's still worth noting. You can watch Greitens announce the resignation here. It's a little slow with not much new information in it, but worth a watch if you're interested.

The outlets reported this as stated:

Frankly, all 3 points are pretty basic, but they're also extremely important.

The second point, and also Greitens' second felony indictment, somehow seems to be less well known that the 3rd point. A lot of people are aware of the sexual misconduct and blackmail charges, but not so aware of the tampering, which is equally as bad.

The parallels between Greitens and Trump never fail to amuse me. Both are facing scrutiny over trying to keep an affair quiet one way or another as well as scrutiny over not being up to date on campaign laws. Both of them awful enjoy blaming their actions on "fake news meida", unfortunately for Mr. Trump and Mr. Greitens, even FOX is reporting this.

FOX goes on here to report more in depth on the felony:

"Also being investigated is...a veterans charity founded by Greitens, as it relates to the state's consumer protection and charitable registration and reporting laws. ...media reports suggested Greiten's campaign had obtained and used a charity donor list in 2015 as it ramped up fundraising for his gubernatorial bid.

The final point is one of the most well known about the case."

Blackmail. This is literally blackmail. I strongly encourage you to find more information out about this part of the scandals he's involved in. These 3 little points from these three outlets barely scratch the surface of all the things that went wrong during this affair.

Weather you loved him or you hated him, Greitens is no longer governor of the beautiful state of Missouri as of today.
